A hypnotic
mind state is a normal and
natural condition all humans
experience every day. When you
tell yourself to, and then
focus on
thinking,
feeling or imagining specific
thoughts, feelings, or mind
images, you are experiencing a
hypnotic mind state.
When you daydream, get lost in memories for a few minutes, or when you are so focused on one subject
2.
What is self-hypnosis?
Self-hypnosis is when you
choose to relax and focus inward
to experience a hypnotic state.
You
choose specific thoughts and
mind images to guide you,
directing your thoughts for your
benefit.
In the
Relaxed Dental Visits program
when you hear ideas, and then
using those ideas, you relax
your body and feel calm.
You
choose, and then feel relaxation
and calmness, by focusing your
attention helpfully for
yourself.
For example, say you have chosen
to feel very deeply relaxed, but
suddenly choose to focus clearly
on your external surroundings
once again (or speak with your
dentist), then, once again, you
prefer to feel deeply relaxed.
Your body will respond to your
thoughts almost within the
instant that you focus your
attention upon those thoughts,
so remember while at the
dentist's office that it is
helpful for you to choose to
feel relaxation.
Your freedom of choice and focus
is ALWAYS within your control.
3.
In
hypnosis or self-hypnosis will I
feel under someone else's
control?
No one can
force you to become hypnotized.
You
will not do, or say, anything
against your conscious choice.
Hypnosis and self-hypnosis are things you
can do,
because you
choose
to do them.
In fact,
in self-hypnosis you are always
in control.
You
will only choose to hear and use
information which you decide is
true, for you.
YOU
control your focus of thoughts
and ideas.
In self
hypnosis you are completely in
control of your thoughts and
your choices at all times.
4.
Could I accidentally stay in
self-hypnosis?
No. You are
unable by design to remain in
self-hypnosis, as your
co-operation in directing your
thoughts in specific ways, is required.
Your awareness will change as
soon as you open your eyes and
focus your attention more
clearly on the room you are in,
and on what you plan to do next.
The
closing tracks of the program
are
3 minutes long.
The
closing tracks are designed to
suggest you feel renewed and
refreshed at the end of your
relaxation program, so remember
to listen to it.
Your dentist will be happy to
have you complete your
appointment in a relaxing
manner.
5.
What is clinical hypnosis?
Clinical
hypnosis uses the natural
state of hypnosis to help people
make changes in their
'automatic' responses, assisting
in achieving their physical or
mental goals.
Clinical hypnosis is different
than stage hypnosis.
(Stage hypnosis is
most often used
for entertainment purposes,
rather than serious goal
achievement.)
Clinical
hypnosis uses the safe and
gentle state of hypnosis for
improving or changing
beneficially emotional, mental
and physical issues.
Clinical hypnosis has
successfully been used for
surgical benefit (including
dental surgery), asthma,
healing, childbirth, irritable
bowel syndrome, insomnia and
pain management, plus the
reduction of chemotherapy and
other medical side effects,
along with
many
other health and emotional issues.
